Over 4.75 billion kyats worth of heroin, stimulants, and opium seized in Nawnghkio Township

On the night of May 19, around 10:00 pm, law enforcement officials seized over 4.75 billion kyats worth of heroin, stimulant tablets, and opium oil cakes near Magyiyay village on Yatsauk-Nawnghkio Road. The operation also resulted in the confiscation of three motor vehicles and the arrest of eight individuals involved in the transportation, support, and acceptance of the drugs.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Drug Eradication Police Squad members and security personnel stopped and searched a Dongfeng vehicle driven by Sai Fong, which was heading towards Nawnghkio from Yatsauk. Hidden under bags of bran, the team found and seized 123.2 kg of heroin, 5.65 million stimulant tablets, and 52 kg of opium oil cakes.

Those who colluded in the transportation of the drugs, including Myo Min Htun and Kyaw Thet Oo with their NISSAN AD VAN, and Aye Kyaw (aka Kyaw Naing) and Hein Htet Aung with their TOYOTA PROBOX, were arrested.

The masterminds behind the transportation of the drugs from Shan State to Mandalay, identified as Ko Pyei (aka Pyei Phyoe Thu aka Min Myat Naing) and Ma Htwei Sanein, were apprehended in Yemon South Ward, on 38C Road between 54th and 55th streets, Maha Aungmyay Township, at 7:30 pm on May 22nd.

The suspects have been taken into custody, and ongoing investigations are being carried out to locate others connected to the crime, according to CCDAC Myanmar.
