Myanmar seizes illegal goods worth Ks396.6 million in three regions

According to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee of Myanmar, various types of illegal goods worth over 390 million kyats were seized in Mandalay, Sagaing, and Bago Regions.

On June 8, inspection teams seized illegal industrial diesel oil worth about 34,464,000 kyats (3,200 gallons) and the Nissan Diesel Bowser carrying the oil (estimated value 42,000,000 kyats) under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law at Myitnge Inspection Station in Mandalay Region. Additionally, at Kywetatsone Inspection Station, inspection teams seized various items without official documentation, including 3,008 packs of Chinese-made Super Glue, 300 bottles of Tamarind Juice, 1,682 children's bicycles, and Screen Protector Glasses (worth about 116,255,000 kyats), and the Mitsubishi Fuso Bus and Truck transporting them (estimated value 85,000,000 kyats) under Customs Law. Also, at Kywetatsone Inspection Station, 12,600 kilograms of Chinese-made textile rolls and 80 packs of Fruit Sticks, worth approximately 74,834,000 kyats, were seized from a Nissan Diesel Truck (estimated value 25,000,000 kyats). In total, items worth approximately 377,553,000 kyats were seized and action was taken.

On June 8 and 9, in Sagaing Region, inspection teams seized various items, including 960 cans of Chang Beer and 300 bottles of Grand Royal Whisky worth about 6,240,000 kyats without proper transport documents under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and an unlicensed Honda Fit vehicle (estimated value 8,000,000 kyats) under the Export and Import Law at Yatanarpon Bridge Joint Inspection Gate. In total, items worth approximately 14,240,000 kyats were seized and action was taken.

On June 9, in Bago Region, inspection teams seized approximately 7.000 tons of illegal teak, 0.619 tons of hardwood, and 8.098 tons of other timber worth about 4,788,623 kyats in Bago District, Taungoo District, and Pyay District. Action was taken under the Forest Law.

Therefore, it was reported that the total value of items seized on June 8 and 9 was about 396,581,623 kyats in 16 cases, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
