55 kg of heroin worth Ks2.75 bn seized in Sagaing Region

The Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC-Myanmar) announced the seizure of 55 kilograms of heroin worth 2.75 billion kyats in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region. The heroin was reportedly being transported from Shan State for sale in Sagaing.

Acting on a tip, officers stopped a MITSUBISHI FUSO six-wheeled container box vehicle driven by Win Aung Tun with Tin Maung Hla on May 31st around 5 pm. The search uncovered 55 kilograms of heroin concealed within 5,500 plastic soap containers.

The investigation identified Thawt Nay Lwal (aka Par Lwal) and his wife Ma Aye Aye Myint as the masterminds behind the transport. Win Aung Tun and Tin Maung Hla, the apprehended drivers, are also facing legal charges.

The CCDAC is committed to dismantling the drug trafficking network. They will pursue not only the individuals involved but also their financial assets under the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
