Myanmar temporarily suspended the passport renewal from January 5, according to the Myanmar Consulate General in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

According to the release, the passport renewal process date will be announced again.

The Myanmar Consulate General in Chiang Mai has requested that those who have an appointment for passport renewal to come as soon as possible in order to obtain their information so that they can obtain their passports as soon as possible.

In order to solve the difficulties faced by Myanmar workers in Thailand, ways to coordinate more between the relevant ministries to renew ordinary Myanmar passports through short-term and long-term plans and regarding the issues of forming working groups to renew ordinary Myanmar passports on time, a coordination meeting led by U Thein Nyunt, a member of the State Administration Council held at Thanlwin Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 5, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, the Myanmar ambassador to Thailand discussed about migrant workers to be able to live and work legally, new and renewals of Myanmar passports and the challenges faced by undocumented migrant workers in relation to issuing identity certificates.
