The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Ghaziabad on July 30, announced the office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.

The Senior General and party were greeted by the factory officials, and explained at the factory’s meeting hall about the specifications and capabilities of defence equipment produced by the BEL. The Senior General enquired for his knowledge in response and looked round the factory, it said.

The BEL was established in India’s Bangalore in 1954, and is producing electronics and defence equipment. It has nine factories across India, and runs branch offices in foreign countries. It is manufacturing equipment and accessories for communications network security and ground, air and territorial waters security.

The Senior General and party held talks with External Affairs Minister of India Dr Subramanyam Jaishankar at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on July 29.

The Senior General and party were greeted by the Indian External Affairs Minister and officials. The minister hosted breakfast to Myanmar delegation and both sides discussed promotion of friendship between the two countries and the two armed forces, potential for greater cooperation in border peace and stability, security and defence arenas of the two countries.

The Senior General and party left New Delhi for Varanasi by a special plane of the Indian Armed Forces, and were seen off by officials of the Indian Armed Forces and Myanmar Ambassador to India Moe Kyaw Aung. They arrived at Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport of Varanasi in the evening, and were welcomed by Brigadier Hukum Singh Bainsla, SM of the Indian Armed Forces and officials.
