Military chief receives Chinese and Ghana ambassadors separately

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services received H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, accredited as Ambassador of China to Myanmar and H.E. Ms. Akua Sekyiwa Ahenkora, accredited as Ambassador of Ghana to Myanmar at the Parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, Nay Pyi Taw separately on June 20 and discussed about internal peace and Rakhine issues, announced the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.

The Senior General and Chinese ambassador cordially exchanged views on improvement of relations and cooperation between the two countries and the two armed forces, progress of multi-party democracy chosen by the people in Myanmar and efforts to achieve eternal peace, said the announcement.

They also discussed about support of China to efforts of the government and the Tatmadaw in solving the issues in Rakhine State in the international arena, progress in cooperation between the two armed forces for ensuring peace and stability of the border region between the two countries, the matters to be mutually cooperated by Myanmar and China, and enhancement of cooperation between the two armed forces, it said.

Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and senior military officers, Chinese Military Attaché to Myanmar Sr. Col. Xiong Shaowai and officials attended the meeting.

The military chief also met with Ghana ambassador in the evening and they discussed about diplomatic ties between the two countries, military history of Ghana, bilateral trade cooperation, strengthening of the friendship and cooperation between the two armed forces, Myanmar’s pursuance of multi-party democracy aspired by the people, efforts for achieving internal peace and addressing of issues in Rakhine State in accord with the law, it said.

Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Deputy Head of Mission Ms. Angela Aryee attended the meeting.
