Mass rally in support of charter change staged in Homalin

A mass rally in support of charter change was staged in Homalin, Sagaing Region on May 22.

The mass rally in support of constitutional amendment was held in Myoma Sports Ground in Naungpakyit Ward in Homalin on May 22. We staged the protest because the 2008 Constitution does not seek support from the people and it go against democratic values. We would like the Constitution amended, quoted Kyaw Htay Lwin,  a regional MP representing Homalin in the protest as saying.

The 2008 Constitution was not drafted ignoring the desire of the people. The people supported the mass rally in support of constitutional amendment because the Constitution went against democratic values, said Kyaw Htay Lwin.

Shan, Chin and Naga nationals joined the mass rally in Homalin. Naga nationals participated in the mass rally because they supported the constitutional amendment, said Kyaw Yin, a Naga national.

At the mass rally, writer Htin Lin Oo and Marn (Taunglonpyan) respectively talked on constitutional amendment.

Before writer Htin Lin Oo talked on constitutional amendment, members of Sangha objected to the mass rally by giving signatures.
