Myanma Airways International (MAI) has set target for increasing a double in its plane figures in a bid to seek market shares at the end of this year, said Kyaw Han, Chief Operation Officer (COO) of the MAI.
The remarks came from the annual ceremony of appreciation dinner organized by the MAI and AIR KBZ at IBC in Yangon on February 28.
During the annual ceremony, Kyaw Han, COO of the MAI, and commercial director Tanes Kumar clarified progress of the two airlines.
The AIR KBZ appointed performer Nay Chi Oo as the brand ambassador and she will appear in the hunt for airline market and logo promotion programs.
“The MAI started in 1993 and it performed its service for more than 26 years. Similarly, the AIR KBZ has turned more than 8 years. During these periods, our two airlines achieved success to some degree in the air transportation sector. The AIR KBZ changed its management style a little in October in 2018 and the MAI on January 1 in 2019. The MAI has possessed 5 % of international air transport market and it has a plan to increase a double its plane figures at the end of this year. The AIR KBZ has possessed 20 % of domestic air transport market. We hope that domestic market will increase by 15 % in 2019,” said Kyaw Han.
The AIR KBZ is currently running a total of six planes— five ones of ATR 72-600 and one of ATR 72-500 in the domestic air transportation and the MAI with three planes of A 319 from Yangon to Bangkok, Singapore, Guangzhou and Kolkata.
