KIA attacks an army base in Sedinyan Village killing one villager

Forces of Kachin Independence Army (KIA) came to attack an army base in Sedinyan Village on Ledo Road near Nemati town in Mogaung Township, Kachin State on the morning of July 31 killing one villager, sources said.

A bullet hit the head of 46-year old Moe Kyaw and killed him, said his wife Ni Ni Aung.

She said, “The fighting started since 4 am and it was still heard till 7 am. All of our family runs to hide in the bomb shelter. The rain was heavy. He said he will go to take a mat from the kitchen. I stopped him but he said he will crouch down in the kitchen. The bullet entered from his left ear through back side of his head. Please help us and I am alone with my son at home. No one came to help us and the flow of the water from the mountain is heavy.”

The decease is a Kayin ethnic and he is from Talutaw Village, Yangon Region.

The KIA also attacked the base of No.58 Infantry Regiment in Waimaw, Mayankahtaung gate on Ledo Road and No.3 Operations Control Command in Mogaung on July 29 and 30.

A heavy shell landed inside the compound of KEP company in the village near the base of No.58 Infantry Regiment in Waimaw and killed the company worker Aung Dee.

Fighting between army and People’s Defence Force (PDF) and KIA occurred almost daily in Kachin State and upper areas of Sagaing Region.
