A plan is under way to conduct proficiency courses on media relations for judges and extend the international information program at the courts, said Yangon Region High Court Chief Judge Hla Aye.

Efforts are being made to distribute the accurate and true information to the public. The media can raise the questions at the courts, in accordance with the law. In turn, the information officers of the courts shall reply to the questions in conformity with the law, he added.

“Our court staff will provide services to those dealing with the courts patiently and cordially,”  Hla Aye said.

With the aim of ensuring the swift reforms of the judicial sector, the Judicial Strategic Plan (2018-2022) are underway, according to the work coordination meeting between the region-level departments pertaining to the judiciary, on the implementation of the nationwide Case Management Program (CMP), at the Yangon Region Government Office on July 8.

This strategic plan covers three phases—objectives, duties and values.

The implementation of CMP aims to enable the clients and lawyers to have sufficient time, enable the client to know the court hearing schedules themselves and make cooperation, to enable those involved in the cases to follow the time tables fixed for the court hearings, to reduce the frequency of going to the courts by interrogating more than one client at one time, without the deferment of court hearing without any better and sufficient reason and to promote the public trust in the court through transparency.

Based on the success of the pilot project at Hlaingthayar Township Court in Yangon Region in 2015, the CMP will be extended to 28 township courts in Yangon Region.
