Imports of CMP raw materials increase by over 270 million USD

From October 1 to May 31 of 2018-2019 fiscal year, the raw materials imported by CMP industries has reached 1.573 billion US dollars, up 273.828 million USD compared with the same period last year, according to the figures from the Commerce Ministry.

Garment industry, slipper and bag manufacturing industries are running under the CMP system.

From October 1 to May 31 of 2018-2019 fiscal year, export earnings from the CMP garment sector hit over 2.496 billion USD, up 933.438 million USD compared with the same period last year, according to the Commerce Ministry. The CMP garment sector has topped the list of export items.

Under the CMP system, Myanmar gets about 10 per cent for sewing. The annual incomes of the CMP sector amount to around 300 million USD. The CMP sector’s incomes will increase to three billion USD if the country can shift from the CMP to the FOB system, according to the Myanmar Garment Entrepreneurs Association.

Export earnings from the CMP garment sector hit around 340 million USD in 2010. Export earnings increased three fold in 2014.

In 2015, the export earnings from the garment sector hit 1.46 billion USD, accounting for 10 per cent of the total export value.
