Hotels in Chaungtha and Ngwe Saung beaches in Ayeyawady Region are receiving bookings for hotel rooms for the New Year.

Zaw Lin Tun, Head of the Department of Hotels and Tourism for Irrawaddy Region said, “Now, when I look at the hotels in Chaungtha and Ngwe Saung, there are no rooms until December 31 and January 1. Bookings are tight. Most beach hotels accept guests who will be staying for at least two days, rather than those who want to stay a single night only. Only a few rooms may be vacant on January 2. During this time, the number of day trip planners is higher than usual,” he said.

"Joint checkpoints are always there. I heard that they are checking COVID-19 Injection Completion Card with QR Code to visit. Travelers, including us, should bring these cards. There is no guarantee that a person who has been vaccinated will not get COVID-19 disease. After the injection, we must follow the rules of COVID-19. Therefore, it is important for both the hotel and the passenger to adhere to the health regulations. We are urging them to do so,” he said.

The department is provided COVID-19 vaccination on hotel staff and safe service training.

In addition to Chaungtha and Ngwe Saung beaches, Shwe Thaung Yan Beach and Gorangi Island are also popular tourist destinations in Ayeyawady Region.
