Nay Pyi Taw- Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing has called on stakeholders along the India-Myanmar border and groups operating in areas affected by instability to work together through peaceful means and democratic processes to help advance national development and stability.

The President made the remarks while speaking to the media at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport after returning from a five-day official goodwill visit to India, which took place from May 30 to June 3.

According to the President, the visit was undertaken on the foundation of the longstanding friendship between Myanmar and India. During the trip, he held separate meetings with India's President, Prime Minister, and External Affairs Minister. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, increasing investment opportunities, and strengthening collaboration across various sectors.

He said both countries reached a number of agreements and were able to issue a joint statement following the discussions.

Highlighting the importance of national stability for economic growth, the President stressed that Myanmar must increase production and strengthen trade while encouraging public participation in national development efforts.

He urged stakeholders along the India-Myanmar border to cooperate peacefully with the government if they genuinely wished to see the country prosper. He also called on individuals and organizations in other regions affected by instability to reassess their positions and work together for the nation's development through peaceful and democratic means.

“If all sides cooperate and work together through democratic processes, the country can progress in a relatively short period of time,” the President said.

The President also noted that schools across the country reopened on June 1 and emphasized the importance of education in achieving long-term national goals. He encouraged parents, students, and the wider public to support educational development and contribute to the country's progress through collective efforts.

Describing the India visit as successful, the President said it had received many positive responses despite differing opinions. He added that the trip had been worthwhile and expressed hope that Myanmar would achieve peace, development, and improved living conditions for its people.

The President concluded by wishing for national stability and prosperity, enabling citizens to live and work in peace and security.
