The Ministry of Energy has taken action against 18 petrol stations following complaints received through its call center, including cases of fuel hoarding in North Dagon Township and illegal sales from vehicle tanks in Dagon Township.
To make it easier for people to buy petrol, the fuel is sold at petrol stations in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Yangon, Mandalay, Taunggyi, Bago, PyinOoLwin, and along the old Yangon-Mandalay Road and expressway with upgraded bar code/QR codes that specify the purchase amount according to the engine power capacity. The call center is available from 6 am to 10 pm every day to answer questions and solve problems faced by the public.
The call center is responding to inquiries and complaints from the public and on April 3, the call center received a complaint that the "ROC" fuel shop in Bodhikon Village, Oktwin Township, Bago Region, on the 138th mile of the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway was selling fuel with limited amount. Upon investigation, it was found that 92 Ron and 95 Ron fuel types were not being sold in accordance with the specified instructions. The shop was warned for the last time, and if further investigation is found to be selling fuel with limited amount, effective action will be taken, and the shop manager was ordered to take effective action according to company regulations.
As of April 3, a total of 18 fuel stations in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Mandalay Region, Yangon Region and Mon State have been temporarily closed and action has been taken against the officials of the fuel stations based on complaints received by the call center.
As part of the action against illegal sales, the Ministry of Energy’s call center received reports that 50 gallons of diesel were stored in three fuel tanks at the home of U Kyaw Myint in North Dagon Township, and two automatic pumps and two hand pumps were found. On the side of Myoma Kyaung Street, Dagon Township, Yangon Region, a vehicle was found to be selling fuel through a pipe from the vehicle’s fuel tank. On the side of the road, the authorities found 90 gallons of diesel and 48 gallons of gasoline from an illegal fuel sale shop owned by U Wathon. As a result, action was taken against the driver of the illegal fuel seller, U Win Min Tun, and the person who was doing the illegal fuel sale, U Wathon.
If the public has any difficulties encountered while purchasing fuel by scanning the bar code/QR code and has any other complaints, they can contact the Ministry of Energy’s call center. If the complaint is found to be valid, effective action will be taken, according to the Ministry of Energy.
