The Ministry of Health and Sports is making arrangements for those in quarantine, hospitalized patients and health staff and volunteers working outside their native places to be able to cast their votes on the election day.

The union minister revealed the plan during a meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw on October 15 saying that all the arrangements would be made in accord with the Covid-19 prevention, control and treatment guidelines.

Under the leadership of the State Counsellor, the Union Election Commission and the Ministry of Health and Sports have drawn detailed procedures and vote demonstration and training are being conducted. The State Counsellor herself viewed the vote demonstration two times and gave necessary instructions, the minister said.

He assured that authorities were trying to ensure least or no infection in voting with these guidelines.

The minister also discussed systematic arrangements for those in quarantine, hospitalized patients and health staff and volunteers working outside their native places to be able to cast their votes when the general election takes place on November 8.

Information about detailed procedures for health staff will soon be released and they will be provided with about 30,000 mobile tablets.

The ministry has already announced that a gathering of only 50 people will be allowed for election campaigning while campaign procession and door-to-door campaigns are not allowed in stay-at-home areas.
