The Union ministries, the state and regional governments, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, state and private media organizations and the people should cooperate with the Human Rights Commission to secure improvement in human rights situation in accordance with the motto “stand for human rights” to mark the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, said President Win Myint.

The remarks of the president came from his message of greetings to the occasion of the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which falls on December 10.

Human rights are not those given from a person or an organization through generosity, but these are inherent rights existed in mother’s womb from the birth to death. All human beings are born with the fundamental principles of noble existence such as justice, freedom, and equality, said President Win Myint.

Human rights, democracy and prevalence of law and order are interrelated. If human rights are violated, it will affect democracy and prevalence of law and order. If democracy is violated, it will affect human rights, and prevalence of law. For these reasons, they are closely connected and they affect each other, said President Win Myint.

Disrespecting and turning a blind eye to human rights tantamount to destruction of human ability to reason and differentiate cause and effects and the good or the bad. For that reason, we are making strenuous efforts to teach, educate and train human rights, said President Win Myint.

Myanmar is making a fresh start on the democratic transition road. With the aim of protecting fundamental rights of the citizens contained in the Constitution, Universal Declaration of Human Rights and human rights of international human rights conventions, Myanmar Human Rights Commission was formed after a law was enacted in 2014, said President Win Myint.

MNHRC is making strenuous efforts to provide increased protection for human rights. Human right situations in Myanmar have been witnessed more improvements thanks to the cooperation with the different ministries and respective region and state government, said President Win Myint.

I reiterate that we are fully committed to being in cooperation with the international organizations respecting, protecting and practicing the articles contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, said President Win Myint.
