Over US$3.3 billion was earned from the export of garment (finished products) in eight months of this fiscal year exceeding over US$1 billion compared to the same period of last fiscal year, said an official from the Ministry of Commerce. 

"We earned US$3359.296 million from export of garment (finished products) during the period from October 1 to July 5 in the current 2018-2019 fiscal year. In the same period last year, we earned US$2321.906 million. So we got an additional amount of US$1037.39 million this year," said the official. 

In the nine-month period, garment export value is the largest of all other export items. 

From garment export, Myanmar earned nearly US$4.6 billion in 2018, and garment export value is set to hit US$10 billion by 2024, said Khaing Khaing Nwe, secretary of Myanmar Garment Entrepreneurs Association, at the annual plenary meeting of the association held at the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
