Funeral service of U Zaw Htay, former spokesman for the President's Office in NLD government, held at Nay Pyi Taw

The funeral service of U Zaw Htay, retired Director-General and spokesman for the President's Office under the National League for Democracy (NLD) government, was held at Nay Pyi Taw today afternoon.

Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, a spokesperson for the State Administration Council, was also present at the funeral.

The body of U Zaw Htay, who died of a heart attack on the morning of May 23, will be laid to rest at Nay Pyi Taw Gwe Gyi Cemetery.

U Zaw Htay, who has served in the military up to the rank of major and transferred to the civil service, served as director of the President's Office during the government of President Thein Sein era. He also served as spokesman for the President's Office and Director General of the State Counsellor’s Office in NLD led government era.

Friends from the same batch of Defence Services Academy (DSA) and colleagues from the ministries attended his funeral today.
