Express Bus accident kills 3, injures 14 on Ygn-Mdy highway

Manshwepyi Express bus driving from Mandalay to Nay Pyi Taw overturned near 228-mile on Yangon-Mandalay expressway yesterday morning leaving 3 dead and 14 were injured, according to the Pantin Highway Police Station.

The Pantin Highway Police Station reported that the express bus could not control its speed and overturned between Mile Posts (228/2) and (228/3) of the Yangon-Mandalay expressway in Tatkon Township, leaving three dead and 14 wounded out of the 17 passengers.

“The express left for Yangon from Mandalay. I think, the driver would be drowsy. So, he can’t control his speed and then the bus overturned down. Three men died of the express bus accident and 10 were injured. Later, we sent the injured passengers to the 1000-Bed Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw,” said unidentified officer from Pantin Highway Fire Service Department.

Fire brigade members of the Palwe highway fire service station, Pantin highway fire service station, Phayar Taung Region fire service station and members of respective highway police stations and social organizations rushed to the scene and carried out rescue work.

The Pantin Highway Police Station charged the express driver against bus accident.
