In a dramatic incident on February 5, an explosion rocked Kaunghmuton ward in Muse, resulting in injuries to five individuals. The blast occurred while attempting to access the final compartment of a phosphine (PH3) tank mounted on a Dong Feng 12-wheeler.

The ill-fated operation involved the use of a grinding machine within a 100’x40’ concrete building with a zinc roof.

The victims, suffering from burn injuries, were promptly transported to a private hospital in Muse by a social welfare organization. Fortunately, their injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening.

The ensuing fire, triggered by the phosphine gas explosion, was swiftly extinguished by the Muse Fire Services Department. Under the capable leadership of Deputy Director U Nay Win Toe and a team of 20 brigade members, they utilized 6,000 gallons of water and 30 gallons of foam to bring the situation under control within a little over an hour.
