Rains and strong winds may occur in the regions and states due to the speed of the low pressure area, which may strengthen into a cyclone, and the surface wind could blow up to 40 miles per hour, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) on October 21.

According to the observations made on October 21, the low pressure area over the Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the East-central Bay and adjoining the Southeast Bay of Bengal on October 22. It is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression on October 23. It is recurve northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over West-central and East-central Bay of Bengal on October 24. It is likely to move north-northeastwards and reach West Bengal (India)-Bangladesh Coasts on October 25. Weather is cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and a few clouds to partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Due to the speed of the low pressure area, between October 22 and October 26, rains and thundershowers will be scattered to widespread in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, and Tanintharyi regions and Kachin, Chin and Rakhine states, isolated to scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region and Kayin and Mon states. In some areas, heavy rains may occur. Along the coast of Myanmar and in the offshore seas, there will be occasional strong winds and waves, and during strong winds, sea and surface winds can blow up to 40 miles per hour. The wave height along the coast of Myanmar and in the offshore sea may be about 9 to 13 feet.

Because of this, due to the speed of the low pressure, strong winds with rains and thundershowers may occur and along the coast of Myanmar and in the offshore seas near the shore, inshore and offshore fishing vessels and ships can also be aware in advance, announced the DMH.

In the past 24 hours, there were scattered rains and thundershowers in Tanintharyi Region, while the rest of the region and the state were moderately cloudy. The remarkable rainfall in Kawthoung was 0.63 inches.

In the next two days, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, and Taninthayi regions and Kachin, Rakhine, and Mon states.
