People working towards the democratic cause will face various attacks like harsh language and threats but it is necessary to follow a necessary code of conduct, whoever else breaks it, said President Win Myint.

He posted the comment on his Facebook page named U Win Myint on November 5.

“We have to try to strengthen the foundation of democracy in our country. We all must try to make sure a civilian government that rules democratically emerges. In doing so, democrats will always face scolding, threatening. Stick to your code of conduct, whoever else breaks it. We have to live and act within the framework of law. Convince your country of being good citizens who deserve democracy. Cast votes for the NLD (National League for Democracy) so it can hoist and fly its peacock flag nationwide,” the President wrote on his Facebook page.

He also wrote on his Facebook page on November 4 saying that the 21st Century is seeing genuine democracy and human rights. Under the current age and circumstances, anyone cannot prevent the call of history, he commented.

“We have no choice but democracy to make Myanmar peaceful and prosperous. It is our dignity to do our job by playing our respective roles. This is why I urge you voters to take caution and give protection so we can hold a free and fair election in a peaceful way,” the President said.

He also called for the NLD to promote the country’s democracy.
