Chain National League for Democracy(CNLD) released an announcement on March 3rd that the CNLD has allowed Kyaw Nyein, CNLD’s vice-chairman-4, who accepted a post in the military-formed Chin State Administrative Council to resign.

Kyaw Nyein had submitted his resignation letter to the CNLD’s chairman on February 16th. On the same day, CNLD allowed him to resign from the party, according to the CNLD’s announcement.

“Before hearing his participation in the new Chin State Administrative Council, he already submitted his resignation letter to the party’s chairman. So, we allowed him,” said CNLD’s general secretary Salai Ceu Bik Thawng.

Kyaw Nyein who is also ex-minister of Chin State Forest and Mines at the previous government led by President Thein Sein told Chin World Media on March 3rd that he accepted the new State Administrative Council’s offer aiming to carry out development tasks in Chin State.

Before resigning from the CNLD, he acted as the CNLD’s vice-chairman-4 so also he had competed in the General Election-2020 representing Paletwa Constituency in Chin State.

“We have our party’s senses. Now, we don’t accept the offers of military-coup council which is unequal in our party’s sense. That’s why we can never accept their offer. We, CNLD, will not be concerned with Kyaw Nyein as personally so also we don’t take responsibility for his post and personnel,” said CNLD’s general secretary Salai Ceu Bik Thawng.

Likewise, the State Administrative Council offered the CNLD’s chairman and vice-chairman to participate in the Chin State’s new Administrative Council but both refused the offer.
