Citizen investments hit around Ks 6985 bln in three years

Until March this year, the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) allowed citizen investments worth over Ks 18,609 billion, with the real estate sector, manufacturing, transportation, hotel and tourism and construction sectors topping the list.

A total of 1,549 local businesses invested Ks 18609187.355 million in 11 sectors.

The investment in real estate sector reached Ks 4,172.850 billion, Ks 3366.261 billion in the manufacturing sector, Ks 2834.663 billion in transportation sector, Ks 1952.186 billion in hotels and tourism sector, Ks 1075.183 billion in the construction sector, Ks 862.903 billion in the industrial development sector, Ks 676.126 billion in the energy sector, Ks 354.278 billion in livestock and fishery sector, Ks 197.091 billion in mining sector, Ks 52.534 billion in the agricultural sector and Ks 3065.107 billion in other sectors.

In 2015-2016 fiscal year, the citizen investment reached over Ks 11,624 billion. During 36 months since the incumbent government, the total citizen investment hit around Ks 6,985 billion. The real estate sector sees an massive inflow of citizen investments. Since January, 2017, the real estate sector has topped the list of citizen investment, overtaking the production sector, according to the MIC.
