Candidate Aung Khant who will run for the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) election said if he was elected, he would solve the problem of flooding in the city.

The candidate made his promise as he briefed the media on his policy to be implemented if he is elected for the committee on March 2.

"Yangon dwellers raise their concern whenever the rainy season arrives. They have to be concerned about flooding, electrocution and so on. I want to make sure that we have no worry about that problem in all seasons. Streets and roads should not be flooded. Proper drainage is most important in every ward. I am keen to deal with this if I am elected as committee member," said Aung Khant.

He said his educational degree and profession are related to urban development adding that the aim of running for the election is to help young people have good and innovative ideas.

Aung Khant will compete in Constituency No (3) covering 12 townships.

The election will take place in six constituencies of Yangon Region. One will be elected for one constituency. The YCDC will be formed with those six elected candidates and five others selected by the Yangon Region government. The municipal election is due to take place on March 31.
