AA synchronized attack displaces more than 200 residents

The number of displaced persons fleeing the synchronized attack on four outposts of Border Guard Force (BGF) launched by Arakan Army (AA) in Buthitaung, Rakhine State on January 4 has reached more than 200, said Nyi Nyi Min, Rakhine State Administrator.

There are about 35 households of displaced person at the pagoda and about 24 ones at the upper reaches of the pagoda, totaling more than 50 ones. The displaced persons came to the IDP camp. The State Government is arranging to provide assistance to the displaced persons. The district commissioner, the staff officer of the district health depart, the staff officer of fire services dept, and the staff officer of district disaster management dept are all discussing the assistance matter, said Nyi Nyi Min, Rakhine State Administrator.

The AA armed group launched synchronized attack on Kyaungtaung, Ngamyinbaw, Goatpi and Khahtihla police outposts in Buthidaung at about half past six on the morning of January 4, killing 13 police and injuring 9, the government reported. 

During the attack, the AA arrested 14 people including police and women and released in the evening of that day. The death of civilians has not been known yet.
