A 5.6 Richter Scale earthquake hit Kani Township, Sagaing Region, according to Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.6 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 16 miles southwest of Kani), latitude 22.26°N, longitude 94.68°E, depth 100 kilometers, about 74 miles east-southeast of Hakha seismological observatory was recorded in early morning of October 8, according to the DMH.
