A Basic Education High School (Chaung Taung) in Kawkareik Township, Kayin State, was attacked with drop bombs using a drone, announced the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC) on October 25.

An unknown group attacked the school with drop bombs using a drone at around 3:10 pm on October 24 and the drone was driven to the south of the school when security forces near the school opened fire with small arms on it, it said.

Due to the attack, two bombs hit the newly constructed two-story building for teachers to live in and a bomb fell on the house of Daw Khin Than Nwe which is adjacent to the school and exploded, it said.

As a result of the explosion, the roof of the school building was torn off and Daw Khin Than Nwe was injured and is receiving medical treatment at the Kawkareik hospital, according to a statement.

An attack on a school unrelated to the military is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions and international law, and security forces are investigating to identify and arrest those who plotted the attack, it said.
