Authorities have ceased allowing the conversion of valid PJ passports to PV passports for visiting, according to several foreign employment agencies and passport service providers.

This change reportedly took effect on June 6, due to instances of individuals using PV passports for work purposes.

The PJ (Passport for Job) is designated for those traveling for employment, while the PV (Passport for Visit) is intended for visiting purposes. An overseas employment agency noted, "Due to recent instances of people working with PV passports, the change was implemented on June 6."

"Recently, there are people who go to work with PVs, so it must have been changed that they cannot change. It was set on June 6," according to an overseas employment agency.

There are seven types of passports issued by the Myanmar Passport Office.

The Myanmar Passport Office issues seven types of passports: PJ, PV, Passport for Seaman (PS), Passport for Business (PB), Passport for Education (PE), Passport for Religion (PR) for religious leaders, and Passport for Dependent (PD) for those accompanying family members working abroad. Due to travel restrictions for employment, some individuals have reportedly been using PV passports to go abroad.
