11 owner-less timber trucks seized near Yaypu Check point

NAUNGPAIN- As inspection teams from Yaypu Check point launched surprise checks near Union Highway in Lashio and Hsenwi Townships, northern Shan State on October 13th, 11 ownerless timber vehicles that had stopped at a location between Mongli and Kaungsar villages before arriving in Yaypu Check point were seized.

There are a grand total of 322 timber logs, weighing 10.5762 tons from those 11 ownerless vehicles which was assumed to be on their way to be exported to China.

“We seized 11 timber trucks stopped near Mongli and Kaungsar villages before Yaypu checkpoint coming from Lashio Township. But, we didn’t find the drivers of all the timber trucks,” said an unidentified forest ranger from Yaypu Check point in Hsenwi Township.

A lawsuit in accord with the Section 6(1) of Protection and Preservation of public owned properties is being filed at the Hsenwi Police Station in regards to the illegal timber trucks and still unknown owners.
