Public interest in local Myanmar movies is on the rise and movie show times had to be extended as cinemas are crowded.

Local audiences have taken greater interest in Myanmar-made films since earlier last year thanks to more creative artists and productions.

"More audiences now have a better taste of local films. This may be because they trust in local movies and more creative artistic works. We need to create good movies to satisfy our audiences to save their time and money. If low quality movies continue to be shown, audiences will get disappointed. Artistes and producers alike share responsibility for this. It is important to show the quality films that deserve to be show for public," said movie director and Academy award winner Waing.

Film star Academy award winner Myint Myat also said: "We artistes are glad that more Myanmar people enjoy local movies. But I don't want to see two films starred by the same actor shown in cinemas simultaneously. The audiences may support that actor, but they would find it difficult to watch two different films starred by the same actor due to time and money constraints."

The three local films currently put on show had have attracted large crowds of film lovers and casual cinema-goers alike.
