Several classrooms and teaching aids were destroyed during an arson attack on Takhwekyel Village Middle School in Yedashe Township, Bago Region, according to a press release issued by the information team of the State Administration Council.
The school caught fire after fire bottles were thrown into it at about 7.30pm on October 28. Receiving information about the incident, security forces and fire brigade members rushed to the scene and managed to put out the fire about 35 minutes after.
Due to the fire, three classrooms for Grade-1, Grade-2 and Grade-5 and the headmaster’s office were destroyed. Moreover, 25 desks, 25 chairs, three cabinets and documents in those rooms were destroyed.
An investigation has been launched to expose and arrest the arsonists who incinerated the school with intent to make schoolchildren lose their right to pursuance of education, the SAC information team reported.
