Union Minister for Information Maung Maung Ohn, member of the Union Election Commission (UEC) Khin Maung Oo, Deputy Home Affairs Minister Maj-Gen Soe Tint Naing and Deputy Health Minister Dr Aye Tun met with UN staff and international diplomats and spoke about the current situation in Myanmar on September 9.
The meeting was held at the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) located near Hanthawaddy roundabout on Pyay Road in Yangon and some diplomats from China, Thailand, Israel and Cambodia attended.
"Today, we have invited the diplomats and deputy minister of home affairs, deputy minister of health, Khin Maung Oo from the UEC and officials from the respective departments also attended the meeting. They clarified all the issues happened in the country, including the issue with COVID-19,” said Union Minister Maung Maung Ohn to the media after the meeting.
In the first time, the information team of the State Administration Council invited international diplomats to Nay Pyi Taw for a press conference, and now the meeting is held a gain with UN staff and international diplomats as a provisional government, said Union Minister Maung Maung Ohn.
Union Minister Maung Maung Ohn said that although the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had officially invited diplomats to attend the meeting, some international diplomats did not attend.
"The main message today is for foreign diplomats to know the truth about the current situation in the country. I am talking about witnesses and the truth that is happening today. There are many misconceptions on Facebook here and internationally. We are explaining the foreign diplomats, what the provisional government is doing, today,” he said.
The Union Minister for Information explained the government’s actions in the economic and social sectors during the meeting and Khin Maung Oo, the UEC member, clarified about the activities of the UEC.
Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Soe Tint Naing explained the activities of CRPH, NUG and PDF and the government's efforts to ensure security and the rule of law. Dr Aye Tun, Deputy Minister for Health, explained about the actions taken to control the COVID-19.
