According to the Fuel Import, Storage and Distribution Supervisory Committee, gasoline prices in the domestic market continued to decline this week, while diesel prices edged up slightly, based on the committee's reference prices released on July 17.
The reference prices for Yangon were set at 3,210 kyats per litre for RON 92, 3,285 kyats per litre for RON 95, 3,175 kyats per litre for diesel, and 3,895 kyats per litre for premium diesel.
Compared with the previous week's reference prices, RON 92 fell by 40 kyats per litre, while RON 95 declined by 25 kyats per litre. In contrast, diesel prices increased amid higher global oil prices, with diesel rising by 80 kyats per litre and premium diesel increasing by 105 kyats per litre.
"Gasoline prices have been falling steadily. Since schools have reopened, it has eased our expenses a bit. Fuel costs are lower than before, which has been a relief. However, the even-odd vehicle registration system is still in place, so it remains somewhat inconvenient," said a parent of a student living in Yangon.
The committee said the reference prices announced on July 17 will remain unchanged throughout the week.
Fuel reference prices are calculated and published daily based on the Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) benchmark. The committee has urged the public to report petrol stations selling fuel above the designated reference prices or engaging in incorrect pricing practices.
