Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army-Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC) held talks in Nay Pyi Taw on July 6, focusing on improving regional stability, transport links, and the smooth flow of goods.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and discussed measures to prevent armed clashes, strengthen peace efforts, and promote development in conflict-affected areas.
The KNU/KNLA-PC also requested greater government support for education, healthcare, clean water, malaria and tuberculosis treatment, school supplies, and infrastructure in local communities.
The NSPNC said it would continue prioritizing conflict reduction and political dialogue with both NCA signatories and other ethnic armed organizations to advance the peace process. At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides signed a joint record of their discussions and exchanged commemorative gifts.
