Untimely rain may pour down in southern parts of Myanmar at the end of October and early November due to the rain cloud remaining from the tropical storm that occurred in South China Sea, said Hla Tun, Deputy Director of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
“A typhoon that occurred in the South China Sea has changed into a tropical storm in the sea and is likely to cross the Vietnam coast. It will disappear between Vietnam and Thailand,” he said.
A tropical storm from Philippine Sea will cross the Philippines and move westwards through the South China Sea to pass Vietnam and Thailand. The whirlwind from the storm may reach north of Andaman Sea via southern parts of Myanmar on October 30 as a low pressure area. Eastern winds are strong due to the impact of La Niña and it is more likely that storms occurred in the northwest of Pacific Ocean will move westwards, he said.
“Untimely rain may be scattered in middle areas of Myanmar and fairly widespread in southern parts of Myanmar and Rakhine coast between October 28 and November 4,” he said.
Moreover the low pressure area may intensify into a depression due to air currents flowing in the upper atmosphere and it may reach to north of Bay of Bengal on November 1. More rain may pour down in deltaic areas, Rakhine, Chin and Kachin states and Sagaing Region between November 1 and 3, he said.
