More than 7,600 gallons of locally produced diesel were sold at a subsidized rate of 10,000 kyats per gallon across several townships—including Tatkon, Pobbathiri, Pyay, Amarapura, Wundwin, Pyawbwe, and Pwintbyu—on April 20, according to reports.
The Ministry of Electricity and Energy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and regional/state governments, is distributing diesel directly to farmers to ease fuel shortages and ensure affordable access. The program targets villages still preparing land for summer paddy and oilseed cultivation in the 2025–2026 season. Fuel is sold on a cash payment basis and delivered directly to farming sites.
On April 20, a total of 7,609 gallons were distributed: 650 gallons in Tatkon and Pobbathiri townships (Nay Pyi Taw), 110 gallons in Pyay Township (Bago Region), 2,271 gallons across Amarapura, Wundwin, and Pyawbwe townships (Mandalay Region), and 4,578 gallons in Pwintbyu Township (Magway Region).
Authorities said the distribution will continue in cooperation with local officials to reach farmers in other regions and states.
Similarly, on April 18, a total of 4,542 gallons of diesel were distributed directly to farming sites across seven collection points in Lewe, Pyinmana, and Zeyathiri townships for use in agricultural machinery supporting summer paddy and oilseed cultivation.
