The administrator of Win Sein Village in Thaton Township, Mon State, was shot and killed on the afternoon of September 27, according to local sources.

U Tha Sai was shot at close range by two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike when he was riding on a motorcycle in the village. He was wounded in the space between the right two ribs and sent to Thaton District People’s Hospital. He then died at hospital on the night of September 27.  

“The incident happened in the afternoon. He was sent to the hospital and died at night,” a local villager said.

After the shooting, security forces arrived at the scene and checked the area.

Before this incident, three other village administrators had also been shot and killed in Thaton Township. Naung Bo Village administrator U Soe Thein was killed on June 22, Thanban Village administrator U Hla Min on July 23 and Myaynigon Village administrator U Myint Shwe on July 24. All of them were shot by unidentified gunmen.
