Vehicles have to line up at some petrol stations in Yangon

Vehicles have to line up at some petrol stations in Yangon and some petrol stations are unable to sell petrol according to some drivers.

Since the morning of October 22, vehicles could be seen queuing at some petrol stations and some had to wait till afternoon.

“We had to queue yesterday at the a petrol station but the price wasn’t higher. We are afraid of shortages of fuel and so we went there yesterday,” said  drivers from Yangon. In the afternoon, some petrol stations unable to sell anymore.

A meeting on petrol was convened at Thilawa on October 22 sources said. According to supervisory committee on oil import, storage and distribution of fuel, 11 million gallons of fuel oil were unloaded at Thilawa Port and it is sufficient for local consumption.

On October 17, MT Glory Star unloaded 1.39 million gallons of premium diesel at Thilawa Port in Yangon Region.

On October 19, MT Fly Marlin carrying 0.50 million gallons of 92 Ron and 1.12 million gallons of diesel, MT Beluga Pacific carrying 1.73 million gallons of diesel and 2.55 million gallons of premium diesel, and MT Yu Hai carrying 1.84 million gallons of 92 Ron, 2.14 million gallons of diesel and 1.06 million gallons of premium diesel arrived respective terminals and carried out unloading of fuel.

According to the data collected by the Ministry of Commerce, 246.14 million gallons of fuel, over 6 million gallons of fuel on September 25 and more than 8 million gallons of fuel on September 28 were unloaded from vessels at Thilawa Port.
