A member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party died of a stab wound in Asin Village, Yay Township, Mon State, on the evening of August 16, according to local sources.
The deceased was U Ko Ko aged 51 from Asin Village. Before the incident, he went on a motorbike by himself to his garden. At about 5pm, his wife found him lying by a roadside in the village with a stab wound to the left chest. She then called her workers and sent him to Yay Township People’s Hospital. But he died on the way, local villagers said.
“U Ko Ko was said to be a hardcore member of the USDP. We heard he was stabbed with a scalpel yesterday evening (August 16). He died on arrival at the hospital,” said a local resident.
In connection with the murder, a case was filed at Yay Police Station under section 302 of the penal code of Myanmar.
On the night of July 29 also, a hand grenade was thrown into the house of U Ohn Maung, chairman of Asin Village USDP in Yay Township, and a woman was seriously wounded.
