UEC Chairman vows to restore trust and dignity in upcoming election

In a significant development, U Ko Ko, Chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC), addressed the urgency of the forthcoming election. Unlike the ordinary general elections, this pivotal event aims to redeem the dignity tarnished during the disgraceful 2020 election. 

The UEC chairman held a meeting with the UEC members and personnel at the meeting hall of the UEC Office in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on Monday.

U Ko Ko emphasized that this election is not just about ballots; it’s about history-making. He outlined the commission’s responsibilities. 

The upcoming election, a free and fair multiparty democracy endeavor, stands as the fifth objective in the future roadmap of the State Administration Council. Its purpose to restore voters’ trust and regain the confidence of political parties.

As the UEC Chairman elaborated on the duties and work processes, the meeting witnessed the active participation of UEC members and officers from the commission office. With the spotlight on transparency and integrity, this election promises to be a turning point in Myanmar’s democratic journey.
