Two leaders of the protestors who conducted a sticker campaign around Mandalay moat saying those safeguarding their own race and religion would be voted for were arrested by police on November 3.

Crowds of people started the campaign at about 9 am in the eastern, southern, western and northern wings of the Mandalay moat.

“We are here to conduct a sticker campaign calling for voting for those capable of protecting their own race, language and religion. We don’t need to seek permission as it is a campaign. We follow the Covid guidelines. A group of us does not even have 30,” said U Naing, one of the campaign leaders.

Not before long, members of Aungmyaythazan Township Police Force arrested U Naing and advocate U Zaw Weik, leaders of the campaign.

When asked which law would be used to take action against them, the head of No (5) Police Station did not answer.
