Two dead after 22-wheeled truck falls into gully in Pyin Oo Lwin

PYINOOLWIN-----Two peoples were killed after a 22-wheeled truck carrying potato bags fell down into the gully at 25-milepost on Pyin Oo Lwin-Mandalay road, Mandalay Region, yesterday morning, according to the sources.

The Township Fire Brigade members from Pyin Oo Lwin District together with Social Welfare Association rushed to the scene of the accident and carried out rescue operation. Later, they sent two bodies to the Pyin Oo Lwin People’s Hospital.

“We received phone message around 1pm on Monday saying that a 22-wheeled truck loaded with potato bags lost control after its brakes failed. The accident is close to the Central Fire Brigade Training School in Pyin Oo Lwin Township. So, we went to the accident together with officials from Central Fire Brigade Training School and social welfare associations from Pyin Oo Lwin Township and carried out rescue activities. The gully is about 30-ft depth. Meanwhile, the rain is falling in Pyin Oo Lwin. The driver was found in the car and his conductor was thrown off from the car. We found the conductor under the potato bags,” said unidentified official from Pyin Oo Lwin Township Fire Brigade Service.

“We knew about the traffic accident yesterday noon. I think the accident took place yesterday morning. The witnesses informed us,” said official from Pyin Oo Lwin Township Free Funeral Service Association.
