State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi arrives in Kanpatlat, Chin State on the morning of October 26 and met with township elders, MPs and officials.

She was accompanied by Lt-Gen. Kyaw Swe, Union Minister for Home Affairs.

She visited Natmar Taung National Park and returned to Nay Pyi Taw in the evening.

“She didn’t meet other members of the public. She arrived here at 9:20 am and went to Mount Victoria (Natmar Taung). She met with township elders, MPs and officials around 4 pm. It was just a normal visit. We submitted about area development plans such as upgrading of Kyindwe Village into a town, and roads, bridges and telecommunications. She said she will fulfill the requirements as much as she can. She said locals need to preserve Natma Taung for the nature lovers and tourists. We thank her for taking time to visit our town. The meeting was finished quickly,” said MP Phwe Ar of No.2 Kanpatlat Constituency.

The Mount Victoria (Khaw Nu M’ Cong or Natmar Taung) where Suu Kyi visited is located in Kanpatlat and Mindat townships.

Kanpatlat Constituency is one of 13 vacant constituencies in 2018 by-election held on November 3.
