State Counsellor visits Independence Monument in Cambodia

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi laid a floral tribute of honor at the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on April 30, announced Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The State Counsellor went to the Royal Statue of late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk (Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh) and laid a floral wreath, the announcement said.

And the State Counsellor went to Peace Palace, Cambodia Prime Minister Office to attend a welcoming ceremony where she was greeted by Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and discussed about bilateral ties, it said.

Afterwards, the State Counsellor went to Cambodia National Assembly (Lower House) and met with Lower House President Samdech Akeak Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, it said.

Union Minister Kyaw Tin, Deputy Minister Aung Htoo, Myanmar Ambassador to Cambodia Myint Soe and officials accompanied the State Counsellor.

Myanmar delegation arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport in Cambodia on April 29, announced the Office of the State Counsellor.

The Myanmar delegation attended a forum of Belt and Road Initiative held in Beijing, China on April 27 and met with leaders from 37 countries separately before paying a visit to Cambodia.

State Counsellor and her delegation departed from Beijing to Kunming by special flight and landed in Changshui International Airport on April 29. She received Chen Hao, Secretary of Communist Party of Yunnan Province, in a special guestroom at the airport.

Union Ministers Thant Sin Maung, Win Khaing and Kyaw Tin, Deputy Ministers Aung Htoo and Sett Aung, Myanmar Ambassador Thit Lwin Ohn and other officials attended the meeting, it said.
