The State Administration Council (SAC)'s Information Team announced that the security forces have successfully regained control of the Hopong-Mongpon Union highway, thereby reopening the Mongpon to Taunggyi route for travel.

The Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) which is one of the NCA signatories attacked security forces along Union Highway together with the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) and the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) and main places were blocked since February 21 aiming to destroy stability in the Pa-O self-administered zone in southern Shan State, according to SAC.

The blockade led to a halt in the travel and transportation of goods, causing widespread panic among the local population. In response, security operations commenced on February 22 to clear the Hsi Hseng and Mongpon sections of the highway. After 16 reported clashes, control of the Union highway was re-established by February 29. By March 1, the road was fully operational, allowing for the usual flow of passenger buses, trucks, and other vehicles.

The SAC statement also noted casualties and injuries among the Tatmadaw (Myanmar's military), along with the capture of some military weapons. From March 1, security forces were able to maintain open access along the Hopong-Mongpon Union highway, facilitating travel from Mongpon to Taunggyi. Additionally, the SAC Information Team mentioned ongoing military operations against groups accused of destabilizing the region and engaging in narcotics trafficking.
