Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun, leader of the information team for the State Administration Council (SAC), said that there is no immediate plan to recruit women in the Tatmadaw under Military Service Law.

Major General Zaw Min Tun added this in his further notification on February 20 regarding the points to be informed about the Military Service Law.

“After carrying out national defense duties, the employment opportunities will be appeared according to priority. Therefore, what I want to clarify today is that there is no current plan to recruit women under the Military Service Law,'' Major General Zaw Min Tun said.

The Military Service Law is a law that the state has already shown to protect the national defense, especially the three main responsibilities. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the SAC, has already said that the law will be calculated and deliberated, and that it will not be a burden to the country, and that only the forces around you will serve within the specified range, and that the situation which will be like “bees can swarm and squirrels can scamper on a branch”, Major General Zaw Min Tun said.

In addition, during the meeting with the YMBA on February 17, regarding the military recruitment, the SAC Chairman said that only those within the specified age group should serve for a specified period of time. It will be done to avoid burdening the public. There are people inciting the public based on unfounded and misinformed opinions without studying the published law, Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said.

In addition, during the meeting with the Myanmar ambassadors, the SAC Chairman has already said that the Reserve Forces Law does not mean that all old military personnel will be recalled, but that only those who deserve to be called up will be reassigned, Major General Zaw Min Tun said.

“This is what the Prime Minister said so that all the people know. In addition, there are things that the Prime Minister has often said. He said that it is necessary to have good political might, economic might and military might to build a country and to have the stability of a country. Among these, economic power is the main one. It has also been said that the rest of the power can be improved. Regarding the economy, there are various theories and concepts, but I don't want to talk it confusingly. I just want to say one thing. In order to strengthen the economic power, it is necessary to strengthen the productive forces as it is said in simple economics. Industrial relations need to be systematically strengthened. In terms of productivity, various innovative concepts have appeared, and according to previous classical economics, it is land, labour and capital. They are productivity, land, labour and capital. We, as a government, take these seriously. When it comes to labour, human capital must be emphasized. This includes labour. As a government, we have always taken these seriously. Our government will use them equally when building the necessary forces for this country such as political might, economic might and military might,” Major General Zaw Min Tun said.

At present, some are spreading rumors about the recruitment to create chaos in the public's economic life. It is seen that some are doing things to make people worried and afraid. It has already been calculated and presented about the number we need. According to the 2019 inter-censal survey, there are 13 million people who can perform national defense duties according to the military service law. Out of 13 million, there are more than 6 million men. Out of 6 million, only 1% (which is 60,000 men) will be recruited and it will be done on a rotating basis. It is said that in the place of national defense duties, people from the other countries are also served on a rotating basis, Major General Zaw Min Tun said.
