Rice pot sparks fire, destroys three houses in Kyunsu

A fire sparked by a rice pot on Pataw Island’s Kyunsu town has destroyed three houses, including that of U Than Lwin.

According to reports, on January 11, U Than Lwin was cooking rice with a furnace-stove when the fire reportedly ignited, spreading to three wooden houses and causing significant damage to them.

Firefighters from Myeik responded quickly, crossing the body of water by speedboat and catamaran. Meanwhile, two fire trucks and two water-carrying trucks from Pyae Phyo Htun Company crossed the Seik Ngel Baw bridge to assist in extinguishing the fire.

Local villagers were also found helping in putting out the fire. In total, three homes were destroyed, including U Than Lwin’s. Authorities are now investigating the incident.
