Falam, Chin State, is undergoing repair and reconstruction of homes and public buildings damaged by the violence, with government departments, security personnel and local residents working together to restore the town.
Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint led a joint cleanup operation involving local military personnel, police, firefighters, health workers, education staff, and officials from district and township departments. A total of 352 personnel cleared roadside vegetation, drainage systems and the surroundings of district and township offices, the public hospital and the nursing training school along Dr. Ni Khwe Road in Balai Ward, Falam.
Religious leaders, pastors, monks, township elders and government personnel are also participating in the daily repair and reconstruction of damaged buildings and public facilities.
The Deputy Minister later inspected restoration work at the 200-bed Falam Township General Hospital, where teams were clearing the hospital compound and removing damaged sections of buildings using both manual labour and heavy machinery.
During the inspection, he instructed officials to systematically salvage and store reusable materials—including roofing sheets, timber, steel, metal doors, door and window frames, water purification equipment and electrical equipment—from buildings scheduled for demolition, while expediting repairs to structures that can be restored.
A temporary general hospital has been established in Falam, where a hospital superintendent and 84 health workers have provided medical services to 1,554 patients. The facility is serving not only residents of Falam but also people from surrounding villages.
Meanwhile, township public hospitals in Tiddim, Tonzang and Falam are operating with 285 doctors and health workers, who have treated a total of 14,124 patients. Government-supplied laboratory equipment, medical supplies and medicines have also been delivered to support healthcare services.
