Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will pay a working visit to Myanmar in the near future at the invitation of Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing, according to official information.

The upcoming visit will mark President Lukashenko's second trip to Myanmar.

President Lukashenko previously visited Myanmar from November 27 to 28, 2025, during which he held talks with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who was then serving as Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission. The two sides conducted bilateral discussions on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

During that visit, Myanmar and Belarus signed and exchanged a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs), including those covering cooperation in science and technology, customs affairs, an export credit framework agreement, and collaboration in the fields of standardization, conformity assessment, metrology, and accreditation. The two countries also signed a roadmap for enhancing bilateral cooperation, agreements on trade, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural cooperation, a treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal and commercial matters, and an MoU on investment promotion.

As part of the visit, a road linking Rajathingaha Road and Zambuthiri Road in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory was officially named Minsk Road, after the capital city of Belarus, to commemorate and strengthen the enduring diplomatic friendship between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of Belarus.

In addition, on May 25, 2026, President Alexander Lukashenko approved the agreement on mutual visa exemption between Belarus and Myanmar by signing its ratification.

Under the agreement, Myanmar and Belarusian citizens holding valid official passports will be exempt from visa requirements for entry, exit, transit, and temporary stay in each other's countries.

The visa-free arrangement allows eligible travelers to stay for up to 30 days per visit from the date of entry, with a maximum cumulative stay of 90 days within one calendar year.
